Welcome to the CASA Visual Art Web Page!
I'm Renata Kagle, the visual art teacher, and I grew up in Oil City in Northwestern PA.
As can be expected, art was my favorite class in high school!
I attended Edinboro University of PA where I received a Bachelor of Science in Art Education degree. My professors opened up the amazing "world of art" by sharing their knowledge, skills, techniques, and experiences that fueled my lifelong passion for art.
After teaching at a community arts center for 5 years I decided to return to Edinboro for graduate work and earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting and later, graduate credits in a Doctor of Philosophy in Advanced Art Teaching at the College and University Level Program at the University of North Texas. I have taught in a variety of art educational institutions from preschool through college, including the University of North Texas as a teaching fellow, HACC, Bloomsburg University, and Kutztown University.
I start with a traditional art educational program focusing on learning the knowledge, skills, and techniques needed to build a solid foundation for later strong creative and expressive work. I hope to increase options and avenues for personally meaningful art making.
The visual art students offer a strong support system for each other. Sharing their passion with like minded individuals makes the classroom a comfortable place to be for their two hours of studio time each school day. They form a bond that, for many past students, lasts for years. (I know because I see it on Facebook. J)
