Originally from northeastern Pennsylvania, I am a proud graduate of Penn State University with a B.S. in Secondary Science Education (Biology & General Science) and a M.Ed in Curriculum & Instruction.
Prior to coming to CASA, I taught 8th grade science at Hershey Middle School. There I was involved coaching sports, Science Olympiad, and as the science department coordinator writing curriculum. After HMS, I had the opportunity to work with PBS/NOVA on science education outreach and developing new resources for NOVA Labs online. I also have experience working with the Pennsylvania Department of Education Keystone exams, project based assessments, and Praxis teacher preparation exams.
Currently I am an organizer for edcamp Hershey, a locally-run educational conference, and am an advisor for National Honor Society here at CASA. Additionally, I am a volunteer teacher trainer for Population Education and judge for their World of 7 Billion video contest.
I live in suburban Harrisburg with my husband, daughter, and dog. I love to spend time with friends & family, go to Penn State football games (I bleed blue & white and love everything PSU!), cook, garden, read, listen to music (especially Dave Matthews Band), try new restaurants, explore my adventurous side, and develop my collection of nerdy science shirts and jokes.
I look forward to sharing my passion for science to help you succeed this year!
